I hope you'll consider coming over Now that the Christmas rushing is done I built us a fire from wood I cut down this summer A crazy year But that barely says it Let's settle down, toast it and end it No red carpet photo-ops Just us with your head on my shoulder We could be lost in our own world Another Christmas 78 on the Victrola There's butternut squash roasting in the oven The porchlight's on, but nobody's coming This storm is too harsh for a creature as fair as yourself So come on in We'll dry you off as the snowstorm rages The hill's covered up We'll take flashlights and walk the field To the top of the Knoll There we'll lay down And we'll look up We'll shine the beams and challenge the flakes as they're falling I hope you'll consider staying over We sleep so much better dreaming together The storm will be done And the sky will spread open above We could stay lost in our own world Another Christmas 78 on the Victrola Another Christmas 78 on the Victrola Another Fats Waller 78 on the Victrola On the Victrola The Victrola...

Despite the calendar, I'm still unconvinced I need a record of the months that I've missed There's sand on my Christmas list I'm in denial and nobody could teach How could December seem so far out of reach I think I'm still on the beach Christmas already? Wasn't it just July? There's fireworks still decorating the sky I've got some presents to buy Saturday Everyone will come over The spirit that's missing will return when we're kissing Where's the mistletoe? Do we really need to know? (no) Christmas already? I'm still living in June Is there a lifeguard gonna rescue me soon I've got some shopping to do So many languages we have to learn Many greetings to return Sunrises, sunsets A world of greetings to return Many languages to learn The knowing nods and smiles of holidays on which we turn See the children ice skate across the water Skating's great on an open lake I got my hand in the hand of my favorite date See the children ice skate around the world Christmas already? Can you give me a lift? I reckon I should hit the shops for some gifts Before it's December 25th Every day There's a want to be closer The spirit of giving hits you sure as you're living Now I got to go The stores are closing in an hour or so.
